Cardiff Dragons Korfball Club

Contact Information:

Dragons formed in 2005 as an off-shoot of Cardiff City Korfball Club, part of the on going development of the sport within Wales. Initially playing against teams from the south west of England, as well as the other Cardiff based teams, Dragons managed to win the league in their debut season. Changes to the structure of the league system means that the local league now incorporates the Cardiff teams, however a new regional league has been introduced and rivalries with teams the other side of the bridge have been renewed.
While the sport is inherently friendly league matches can be very competitive. In the past several members the club have represented Wales. There are still plenty of chances for new players to get involved and play, with specific matches being dedicated to that purpose. We also try to attend many of the tournaments hosted by other clubs from around the UK, particularly during the summer. In the past our travels have taken us as far a field as Stockholm!
As with any sports club we but a strong emphasis on the social side. With korfball being a mixed sport this is even stronger. From a quick pint after training to go karting to getting dressed up for the end of season awards, there’ll always be something to interest everyone.
We are always on the look out for new players, no experience is necessary or expected. In the summer we train outdoors and indoors in the winter. All training equipment is provided, just bring along sports kit and trainers! As long as you’ve got some ability to pass and catch a ball you should be able to enjoy korfball. So whether you’re an old hand moving to the area or a complete beginner looking to keep fit or try something new, why not give it a try!
