First and foremost we are a Target Archery Club although some of us do shoot Clout, Flight and Field archery but the club does not have facilities for these. We have 48 members divided between 25 in the Senior Section and 23 in the Junior section. Although most members shoot compound bows at the moment we have a growing number of archers shooting recurve but unfortunately we have none shooting longbow or barebow on a regular basis.
We are very active on the competition scene, not only holding our own indoor competition in November but also travelling extensively but predominately throughout Scotland for both the outdoor and indoor season. Some members shoot nationally and internationally.
Loreburn Archers realise that the lifeblood of Archery is through new archers joining the sport and actively encourage new members, especially juniors, and at the start of the indoor season hold beginners sessions for people wanting to take up the sport. Archery is a sport that is open to all irrespective of abilities and we currently have two members with disabilities. It is also a sport where age is not so important.
Not only do we have our own Level 1 Coach in Ronnie Sneddon but also members of the club have partaken in Scottish Squad Training where there is help from National, International and Olympic standard Archers.
Loreburn Archers also do a number of 'Come and Tries' at local Gala days during the summer season which introduce Archery to a wider audience as well as raising much needed funds for the club.
